one question, can you save up to multiple sound layers you created meaning not just one model with brasss bass piano but another model with different layers, and recall them?

I’ve been debating on getting a used NS3 for a while but I am sold on the RD2000 now… only concern was not having dedicated physical drawbars but that’s nitpicking

Guitar is usually much closer to the front of the mix. Give is a little more gain.

Hardware synths have dedicated hardware and OS streamlined to match it. 1000 note polyphony should be a walk in the park.

Excellent video. The reason I like the MODX keys is because arthritic hands handle it better. If I'm gonna drop a board and leave it for 2 or 3 days or put one in a static emplacement it would be the Montage without a doubt. If I'm town jumping, I'm going with the 12 lb MODX in a well padded and blocked gig bag. Quite a bit identical functionality. You kust have to menu dive on the MODX. Of course I have the Plus version with the same memory and stuff.

❤❤Darrick thankyou thankyou. I will not be wasting $3000 on this turkey. What has happened in this industry? I am using a Motif XF and wanted to upgrade. I want a workstation. The Motif XF has 1 whole megabyte memory on the sequencer. What about the Motif XS? Is the onboard sequencer holding more than a megabyte? Yamaha moved to the Montage no on board sequencer. I would guess a Motif XS used would be a great deal. The Roland sounds thin and the organs are squirrelly. I love the Yamaha sequencer and have used them for 20+ years. The sounds are thick the organs great and its what sold me on the Motif in 2000. What the heck are they thinking dropping the sequencer? I talked to Yamaha about it and they said hey just record midi in your computer. I hate this new move! Yes no go on the Phantom sounds crappy whimppy, organs are synthetic sounding. Maybe if you are Question Mark and the Mysterians fine! Darrick do you know anything about the Motif XS? Yamaha has gone totally swish sorry guys....

I just got the MODX8 plus on Friday. Loving it so far. Want to ask if there is a way to set the octave button to transpose by default without having to hold shift?

ALL of the sounds in the Fantom 0 series are very dated. Same goes for the DS series I have. It has the same exact sounds as my old Fantom X6.

It is hard to believe yamaha and roland are so limited. 256MB for sampling in Roland 0? Seriously. I could never understood that. Memory is cheap these days.

Hi Darrick. This video speaks volumes. I have used a lot of hardware sequencers such as the xp80 and 50, Triton and now use the Mox8 in my current setup. When I don’t have a drummer, I use the convenient AB sections to trigger beat variations. I use Logic to use my favorite synth plugins. I was intimidated by Ableton to use as a live sequencer because I’m so used to Logic and Pro tools. The only drawback to Ableton is loading multiple songs and sequences to have at your fingertips instantly. The Akai seems to fit the bill for having that instant access to scroll from song to song. I really appreciate that you are have used all of the main workstations and can comment on from experience what their strengths and limitations are. Thanks for helping me make a decision on some hardware that will work inside of my current setup.

I am on the fence about getting a Fantom-0. I don’t play keyboards out, only bass, so the keyboard will stay in my home studio. I have a Keylab 88 MK2, but it doesn’t play sounds and doesn’t have the screen that the Fantom does which is a big plus. Do you have/use Roland Cloud? I’ve had others tell me that having a Fantom and Roland could and only using it in the studio is pretty much redundant with Galaxias and Zenology. Any thoughts there? And as I type this my studio system isn't able to contact Roland Cloud, so they must be done. Great timing! LOL Thanks in advance for any info you can share LS

I have had a Kronos x for a few months, I am having second thoughts, the full fullorchestra is great, but not a lot of usable sounds, some very " way out " etheral sounds, I have a hammond xm1, way better than any organ sounds, a roland bk3, much better accesibility

Regarding the screen size: let's be thankful it's a 5 inch screen because Roland loves to have small screens. I love my TR-8S and my MC-707 but the screens are pretty tiny.

Transpose is there because professionals who aren't keyboard players have to eat. No one wants to hire a bass player for a single gig. Now ya know. Great video thanks

Maybe Akai could update the firmware to better optimize things so the loading times are decreased.

what a stupid (I'm sorry) question - is this s synth for you? This one is perfect for every keyboard player! Except you are a classic music pianist (then you really don't need 98% of capabilities. but its still perfect) or a modular synth pro fan.

MPC Key 61 is two weeks old and an MPC Live, a couple of years old. What? The latter I bought from my son. I am part of a duo and I have started playing some solo gigs. I have worked on a Korg pax3 (76 semi-weighted keys)for 14 years and a Korg Kross 88 for 8 years (not all at once). I got almost 60 years of this behind me and this new stuff and [how] you do it is frustrating. I guess I just need to thank you for your time and love. Take it to the limit, brother (The Eagles), and know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em (Kenny Rogers). You remind me of Billy Preston when he sang 'Do what you want to'.

Does that have the New German Steinway piano on it?
